Is the whole world crazy or just me?
The other day, as I was driving through town, I was hit by about four different cars. One ran a stop sign, another swerved in front of me and almost hit me, and I'm sure two more were on their cell phones. After a while I began to feel that my life was in danger here.
I decided to go to a small café and cool my heels for a bit. I ordered some coffee, grabbed a corner table and went about my day.
I thought to myself, why are people so crazy? How do they get a driving license?
Thinking about it a little more makes me think it's not just highway driving. People are crazy.
After thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that I don't mind being crazy, it just makes life a little more palatable. Crazy has its benefits.
For example, if you're crazy, people won't take you seriously and so you can get away with things you might not be able to otherwise. "Oh, don't ask him to do that, he's just crazy."
I really want to know if a person is crazy, does he know that he is crazy? Or do they just take someone's words as crazy?
I was thinking about this in the coffee shop when an older couple came and sat across the room from me. He immediately caught my attention. It's always nice to see someone older than me, especially in the last few years.
What struck me about these people was that they were madly in love, or at least seemed to be.
When he entered, she walked very slowly, he went before her and followed her very politely. He waited for her to sit down, as a gentleman should, and then he did. She smiled at him and when she smiled I saw that she had no teeth in her mouth. However, it didn't affect his smile or her smile at him.
He grasped her hand and they grinned at one another. If that's not crazy love, then I don't know what crazy love is. And if it is crazy love, then I want to participate in it with all my strength.
The waitress came back to him and took his coffee order. Of course, who wouldn't want to drink a cup of coffee in love?
The gentleman told the waitress that he needed some time to think about what he wanted to eat. It soon occurred to me that they had a date. I didn't know seniors were dating. If that's not history, I don't know what history on earth is.
I was too far away to hear them, but I could see them chatting back and forth, smiling and laughing like they were embracing a teenager's first love. I wish I lived a little closer because I'm sure their conversation would have been interesting.
I'm so tired of hearing hate speech, bigoted gossip, political gossip and stuff that makes you sick. It's about what you hear and see on TV, which may sound weird, but I'm thinking of teleportation.
When people are madly in love, it doesn't matter what they say, the only thing that matters is that they are with each other. I did not know the story of this old couple. I'm certain it would be good to hear. Have they been hitched for a surprisingly long time? Or did they get married a few weeks or months ago?
As a priest I definitely want to marry her. I'm certain it was an incredible festival.
The couple finally ordered and the waitress returned to the kitchen with their order. This gave them plenty of time to enjoy each other's company. I don't know which one you like more. Gentleman or lady? All I know is that there were two people who were truly madly in love.
I was ready to leave when a crazy thought started dancing in my bare head. Why don't I get the share that they are showing this "crazy love"?
I brought the server over and said, "Do you see that old couple around there? I want to pay for lunch."
The waitress looked at me and smiled and then said, "Make sure they don't know who is paying for their lunch". He smiled at me and I gave him a generous tip because the moment was crazy.
It was great to see how they reacted to a stranger paying for their food. I might be insane, however I'm not insane.
We're sure we could use a world that treats others the way we want to be treated.
